Amapola Hansberger of Legal Immigrants for America testified before the Florida legislature on behalf of the bill to ban sanctuary cities in the state of Florida.

Legal Immigrants for America (LIFA) is proud to have joined forces with The Remembrance Project and Floridians for Immigration Enforcement (FLIMEN) to testify before the Florida House of Representatives and the Florida Senate to encourage and endorse the “Ban Sanctuary Cities” bill in the state of Florida.

Our efforts were successful in that first the Florida House Judicial Committee passed the bill on April 16 and then on April 17 the Senate committee passed it as well. The full legislature acted favorably on April 24 and finally on April 26 the Florida Senate in a vote of 22 to 18  passed the Senate version. There was a  short reconciliation process and it is expected that Florida governor Ron DeSantis will sign the bill into law shortly. This will make Florida the 8th state in the nation to ban sanctuary cities. There are at least 3 more with at least partial bans and another 31 working on it.
