Harvard Law School professor emeritus Alan Dershowitz has stated that he thinks that the United States Supreme Court will uphold the travel ban signed by President Donald Trump.
“I predict if the case gets to the Supreme Court, the Supreme Court will uphold the major provisions of this ban.”
Dershowitz believes this because the travel ban blocks in Hawaii and Maryland focused more on Trump’s campaign rhetoric than on applicable constitutional law.
Dershowitz added that he believes that the courts, in ruling against Trump’s travel bans, are inappropriately performing psychoanalysis instead of appropriately performing constitutional analysis.
Dershowitz also stated that he does not believe that Trump’s travel ban is a Muslim ban, but rather focuses on countries like Iran, “the greatest exporter of terrorism.”
