Dear Friends of LIFA:
The 4th of July celebration is sobering. Remembering American history and realizing what the Founding Fathers of this amazing nation went through to make their dream of independence possible is awesome! They were willing to sacrifice all and fight against a mighty empire with enormous duress and disadvantages to gain their freedom. God was on their side.
Without political correctness or apology, they wrote:
“When in the Course of human events, it becomes necessary for one people to dissolve the political bands which have connected them with one another, and to assume among the powers of the earth, the separate and equal station to which the Laws of Nature and of Nature’s God entitles them, a decent respect to the opinions of mankind requires that they should declare the causes which impel them to the separation.”
They were not ignorant of the fact that they were opposed by the greatest army on earth and what their fate would be if they lost. Losing was not an option.
As for us, this 4th of July is more meaningful than many others for we are at a crossroads in American history. We give thanks to God for the Founding Fathers and all that died in the process of gaining our independence. We thank our veterans of war, the military, and people in law enforcement that face not only a difficult time enforcing our laws today, but criticism for doing so, from those who would like the America of our Founding Fathers and the Constitution they wrote to become obsolete.
We pray our country will continue to be “the Shining city on the Hill” for the truly persecuted. May God help our leaders bring about solutions to the problems of division and hatred directed at those who love our Constitutional Republic.
Three good questions to ask our candidates running for office today are:
- Do you value and celebrate America as a sovereign nation?
- Do you believe a sovereign nation must have borders?
- Should we do everything we can to support our Constitution as written?
