LIFA SUPPORTS THE NO SANCTUARY FOR CRIMINALS ACT

Miami Mayor Carlos Gimenez

Representative Bob Goodlatte

U.S. House of Representatives

Washington, D.C.

Dear Representative Goodlatte:

Legal Immigrants for America fully supports H.R. 3003, which would weaken if not all together eliminate policies that shield unlawful and criminal immigrants from federal immigration enforcement.

The practice by Sanctuary Cities/Counties of prohibiting local law officers to cooperate with U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) personnel must come to an end.

Miami-Dade County in Florida took a right step in that direction when the County Commission endorsed enforcement. We hope other jurisdictions will soon follow suit.  It would be utterly unfair to communities nationwide to be subjected to the denial of federal funds due to the willful non-compliance by their elected officials.

Rep. Goodlatte, your bill would finally give a voice to the often times voiceless, by allowing the victims of illegal alien crimes to sue jurisdictions that refuse to comply with the law.

The inclusion of Sarah and Grant’s Law, which calls for the detention of unlawful immigrants, convicted of drunk driving or arrested for other dangerous crimes, by not affording them the opportunity of flight during removal proceedings, would be another win for the citizens of this nation.

LIFA wholeheartedly supports your efforts with regard to this proposed legislation.

Respectfully,

Bruni Hagen
