Tell Florida State Legislative Leaders to Mandate E-Verify
This is a special message for NumbersUSA members in Florida.

Dear Florida activist,
Governor Ron DeSantis strongly supports legislation that would require all employers to use E-Verify to check whether new hires are eligible to work in the United States. State legislators are drafting legislation for consideration in the 2020 session. Unfortunately Senate President Bill Galvano this week said he does not support mandatory E-Verify. House Speaker José Oliva has not said whether he will support or oppose it.

Please slam Galvano’s opposition and urge Oliva to support E-Verify. Instructions are included below. Thank you in advance for your assistance!

Contacting Senate President Bill Galvano

Please call Senator Galvano (850-487-5229) and send him a message using his online form – http://www.flsenate.gov/Offices/President. Suggested talking points are included below.”I am a Florida voter who is angry Senator Galvano said he will oppose legislation requiring employers to use E-Verify. He is siding with unscrupulous employers who favor cheap, illegal labor over American workers. That is wrong. Please tell him to rethink his stance because the vast majority of Florida voters support E-Verify.”

Additional Points for Online Form

E-Verify will not burden employers. It only requires spending a few extra seconds typing in data already required for the federal I-9 form. And it will help employers differentiate between legal and illegal workers. Most employers want the do the right thing but if they do, they can be undercut by unscrupulous companies that thrive on illegal labor. E-Verify will level the playing field.

Business and illegal-alien advocacy groups are working to stop this legislation because they know E-Verify is effective. Ignore them and listen to voters like me. Please use the power of your office to require all employers to use E-Verify.

“I am a Florida voter who supports legislation requiring employers to use E-Verify. Please use the power of your office to ensure Governor DeSantis can sign such legislation in 2020. Business and illegal-alien advocacy groups are working to stop E-Verify because they know it is effective. Don’t listen to them. Stand up for American workers who need your help.”

E-Verify will not burden employers. It only requires spending a few extra seconds typing in data already required for the federal I-9 form. Nor will it cause hiring discrimination. The system cannot even be used until after a person is hired and cannot be used selectively for verification based on foreign appearance. It actually eliminates hiring discrimination because all new hires must be checked.

One thing is certain. Without E-Verify, 100 percent of the illegal aliens that acquire jobs get to keep them. So please pass a mandatory E-Verify bill next year.
