The Department of Homeland Security released 52,147 illegal immigrant children into the USA during the past fiscal year – an average of nearly 150 children every single day of the year – and many of the illegal immigrant children were sent to live with fellow family members who were in the USA illegally as well.
The 52,147 number of illegal immigrant children released into the USA in fiscal year 2016 was nearly double the 27,840 number of illegal immigrant children released into the USA in fiscal year 2015.
Illegal immigrant children are processed in the USA as “refugees” and then are transferred to Refugee Resettlement, where normally they are released to fellow illegal immigrant family members along with a notice to appear before a federal immigration judge.
More than one-third of the children, however, never show up at the hearing and become lost in the system.
Last February, Sen. Jeff Sessions (R-AL) blasted the Obama administration after it reluctantly admitted that no more than 4% of illegal immigrant children are ever returned to their native countries.
According to the fiscal year 2016 figures, the top 5 states where illegal immigrant children were sent are:
California – 7,381
Texas – 6,550
Florida – 5,281
New York – 4,985
Maryland – 3,871
It is estimated that it costs $12 billion a year in the USA to pay for the primary and secondary school education for the children of illegal immigrants.
