Not long after U.S. Border Patrol agent Raquel Medina acknowledged the dire circumstances along the border between Mexico and the USA, a second Border Patrol agent, Chris Cabrera, added further commentary about the challenges faced by agents in trying to combat illegal immigration.

Cabrera told Laura Ingraham that the federal government is “trying to circumvent their own laws” by preventing agents from securing the border and curbing illegal immigration.

In a subsequent interview with CBS News, Cabrera added that there has been a “mass spike” in recent illegal immigration due to the 2016 presidential election. Cabrera said that illegal immigrants have been told that if Hillary Clinton wins, then they will receive “some sort of amnesty.” Illegal immigrants also have been told that if Donald Trump wins, then “there’s going to be some magical wall that pops up overnight and once that wall gets up, nobody will ever get in again.”

Cabrera further told Laura Ingraham that the federal government is thwarting the border agents’ great efforts to halt illegal immigration along the border.

“And you know, we’re just doing what the law says and what our job is,” Cabrera said to Ingraham. “Apparently, they’re trying to circumvent their own laws, and we just want to do our jobs the way we know how to do it and the way we were trained to do it.”

Ingraham opined that “they’re treating you as an adversary rather than an ally in keeping America safe and secure.”

Cabrera added how illegal immigrants are “taking advantage of this catch-and-release system” every day, and stated that some 500-800 illegal immigrants are captured and then released on a daily basis “right out the front door.”

Cabrera called it “ridiculous” to be releasing illegal immigrants right into the USA.

Cabrera also confirmed statistics that show that only around half of all illegal immigrants, around 50-60%, are captured each day.

Cabrera noted that this policy was a key reason why the National Border Patrol Council decided to endorse Donald Trump for president.

“You know, the main focus we had is border security,” Cabrera observed about the Trump endorsement. “No other candidate had talked of border security at all. Some talked of some type of immigration reform, but nobody talked of border security. And in order to do any type of reform or anything, you need to have it secured first. And [Trump] was the only candidate that went to that step of enforcing the borders.”

Cabrera was heavily critical of the Obama administration and its attitude toward Border Patrol agents and the important work that they do.

“They don’t seem to take it seriously,” Cabrera concluded about the Obama administration and its attitude about illegal immigration. “They seem to look at immigration violations like a traffic ticket, like it’s not really a big deal to them. And it is a big deal, especially for the fact that there are a lot of people coming across with criminal history in the United States.”

Legal Immigrants For America (LIFA) applauds both Raquel Medina and Chris Cabrera for their courage in coming forth to state the truth about the dire circumstances along the border and the Obama administration’s apathy toward this grave problem. Medina and Cabrera and their fellow Border Patrol agents are all heroes who perform a difficult and dangerous task on a daily basis. They all deserve much better treatment and much stronger support from the federal government.

Raquel Medina and Chris Cabrera both confirm what LIFA has said all along:

A nation without borders is not a nation.
