Washington, D.C. Week 8
Looking back upon my time in Washington, D.C. this summer, it is hard to believe that my time in this city will be coming to an end soon. I have learned so much about who I am and why I feel obligated to advocate for the values that I believe make America the greatest country on earth and protect the rights of all citizens. I am having such a wonderful time working with other young women who inspire me to stand up for my beliefs on campus and throughout my professional career.
This week, I had the pleasure of attending conferences for organizations I participate in at the University of Florida. This included Young America’s Foundation’s Road to Freedom Seminar and Christians United For Israel’s D.C. Summit. During the Road to Freedom seminar I had the opportunity to learn from renowned economists on the importance of free market capitalism. These leaders discussed how free markets provide everyone with the opportunity to succeed, through eliminating unnecessary government regulations and burdensome red tape.
At the D.C. Summit with Christians United For Israel, I learned why it is invaluable for the United States, as the leader of the free world, to stand with our greatest ally and the only democracy in the Middle East. We heard from members of the Israeli Defense Forces and scholars on Middle Eastern policy. The energy among students throughout the entirety of the conference was unbelievable. This summit has truly made me feel even more empowered to speak up for Israel and the Jewish people. I am beyond excited for my last week in Washington!
