Heritage Action is opposed to the U.S. Export-Import Bank (Ex-Im Bank) and its reauthorization, which the House will vote on this week (H.R. 4863). We’ve led the fight against the reauthorization of the Ex-Im Bank many times before and will again include the reauthorization of the bank as a key vote on our scorecard.
The Ex-Im Bank is crony capitalism at its worst—it gives taxpayer funded loans to foreign countries and companies so they can then buy products from American corporations.
While we want American corporations to be able to sell domestically and abroad, the American taxpayer should not be forced provide sweetheart financing deals.
And foreign countries and big companies don’t need these loans—they can easily obtain financing and loans in the private market. That’s the American way!
Closing the Ex-Im Bank is the right thing to do: companies will still have plenty of customers and it will get the government out of a business it never should have even been in to begin with.
CALL TO ACTION: Do you want your taxpayer dollars going towards a piggy bank for foreign companies and big corporations? Call your representative in the House and ask that they vote against reauthorizing the Ex-Im Bank!
